Note: This page is to be used by both players and staff when playing on the server, ignorance is not an excuse to break a rule, if you have any questions about a rule, please ask in the Discord at the channel staff questions.

S.P.L.U.R.T. Station is a hybrid server for erotic roleplay and mechanical gameplay, due to this, we have fairly diverse rules when it comes to behaving on our server, it may take some getting used to, but if you do not act malicious, your behavior should not come into question.

Do not treat these rules as a comprehensive list of everything that can get you in trouble, the rules are always bound to change. If you act in a way that impacts the server or interact in a malicious way then you can get punished depending on the context, even if it is not a written rule. Simply put, just because it is not explicitly mentioned, does not mean you cannot get in trouble.

Rules

This is the most important section, everything in this section takes priority over anything you do.

At minimum you need to understand these rules, if you are confused, please ask a staff member in #staff-questions.

0. Server safety

This is an 18+ server, it is meant for adults, we do not allow any content that could be interpreted as violating laws in most countries or activity that would promote harmful content on our server.

Activities or content that is banned in most countries such as the usage of underage characters or interactions with real life animals is not allowed here at all.

If you are found to be underage, you will be promptly removed from our community. If staff suspect that you may be underage, you will be age-vetted, failure to respond will result in an age-vet ban till you go through the process.

Examples and exceptions.

Examples:

1. Violating either Discords terms of service (ToS) or BYONDs ToS is prohibited.
2. Talking about or using any sort of underage content, in any way on the server is prohibited, check character ages before using their art as a headshot image.
3. Interacting with creatures from real life or animals that resemble real life creatures are not okay to interact within an ERP manner.
4. Using slurs through IC chat or L/OOC is not allowed here, especially if it is used as an insult towards another user.
5. Spreading hate speech towards any group or bigotry is not allowed here, we host a diverse range of people from all backgrounds, even if you dislike a group of people, keep it to yourself.

Exceptions:

1. Interacting with creatures that are of fantasy nature or animals that are different enough from real life animals are okay to ERP with. (Ian is off-limits, but ash drakes are allowed.)
2. Using slurs within a private area between consenting parties is allowed, so long as it makes sense, used for ERP purposes and if outside of a dorm, using anti-subtler ghost.

1. Malicious behavior

Interacting with another player with the intent to harm or ruin their experience on our server and make their overall experience here worse, this includes using non-direct methods to avoid detection.

This is a server for adults, we expect you to behave as such, be open to reasoning and talking out your issues with other players and staff.

Examples and exceptions.

Examples:

1. Harassing someone over their character, kinks, grammar or preferred roleplaying style, is not accepted here.
2. Meta-grudging someone for their past actions against you, by either killing them, griefing them or being problematic with them in L/OOC.
3. Revealing someone's CKey, Discord account or list of characters they play for the purpose of other players to retaliate towards them.
4. Lying to staff about what another player did with malicious intent, in order to get them in trouble.
5. Preventing a player from engaging with the round without a valid reason.
6. Abusing bugs, quirks or exploits in a disruptive manner to get the upper-hand against another player.
7. Type-baiting people is strictly prohibited, this is when you bring someone into a conversation and as they go to reply, you take hostile action against them.
8. Using size changing quirks or gear to make your character smaller for mechanical advantage against a player.
8.1. Characters naturally smaller than half a tile cannot play as a role expected to end up in combat, this includes command, security and antagonist roles.

2. Impactful behaviour

Activities that impact the server or player base in a negative way, you are allowed to roleplay within reason, but if your actions start to impact the server or its players in a negative way instead of improving it, then you may be violating this rule.

Most cases can be solved through IC actions or through the use of L/OOC with the offending player if they are ruining your experience, if communicating fails, contact staff. On this server you are allowed to roleplay in a vast range and most things are allowed so long as they do not prove to be a detriment, avoid ruining the experience for everyone else.

Examples and exceptions.

Examples:

1. Griefing the station without a valid reason.
1.1. End of round grief (EORG) outside of the permitted area or too early.
2. Creating server lag through the use of spawning mass mobs, items, liquid or gas.
3. Bringing IC information into OOC chat, it is not fair to other players and can ruin peoples time.

(Pending overhaul by staff)

Above all else, S.P.L.U.R.T. Station is an EROTIC ROLEPLAY server and, as such, you are expected to act in a way that not only makes sense for your character, but also in a way that does not disrupt the roleplay of others in the process. The roleplay quality we aim for at S.P.L.U.R.T. is medium roleplay, therefore we expect you to be up to that standard in our server. Your characters and the way you play them should at all times reflect a quality of roleplay good enough for this server. You should avoid disrupting peoples’ experience and immersion through your decisions.

Play as a coherent, believable character. You're on a space station as  a hire. There's fluffy characters from all corners of the universe and beyond, some of which are twice as tall as you and walk around with nothing hiding their bits, people are eating deep fried clothes and sometimes there's a dozen Captains. Your character should fit within this game world.

1 - Escalation

All fighting and use of mechanics should be proportional to the conflict itself, and make sense for your character and the situation they encounter. Not unlike how conflict would normally happen in the real world. Conflict and use of mechanics are natural and normal within a roleplay environment in SS13. However, you shouldn’t go overboard when fighting someone else, the admins will gauge for every situation if the use of mechanics was pertinent or not.

In general, try and escalate only when, and as necessary for the situation at hand.

2 - Fuck around and find out

You are not exempt from the consequences of your actions on the server. Just like you would in real life, your decisions and actions ICly on the server can and will be met by ICly consequences from the rest of the players.

Reactions from the playerbase to your character and your in-game actions can range from the use of escalation, to retaliation over several rounds. If admins deem that a situation your character is going through is due to the previous actions you performed as said character, they will let nature run its course. Consider this when deciding your actions in-game and the type of character you want to play as!

Read over these rules before erotically roleplaying with anyone to make sure you don't accidentally break a rule, we takes these rules seriously.

0. Consent

If you plan to engage in any erotic roleplay (ERP) with anyone, get their consent before, this can be achieved either through in-character (IC) methods, L/OOC or if consent is given in a players OOC notes.

Ensure you are aware of everyone's preferences before you interact erotically with them, this means reading over their OOC notes if they have any, make sure to communicate with your potential ERP partner.

For whatever reason you need to end the scene, just voice it in L/OOC, your partner is to comply with your request, regardless of your reason.

1. Non-con

When setting your non-con preferences to 'Yes' or 'Yes - (Position)', you are allowed to be interacted with erotically without your prior permission, physically fighting back, calling for help and fleeing is not allowed (unless all involved parties are okay with it). This does not mean they can violate your preferences or OOC notes, if this does happen make sure to speak up in L/OOC.

Getting security or bystanders involved in a non-con scene is forbidden, unless all parties involved including the security/bystander consent to it as well, in which case keep it amongst yourselves and make sure everyone agrees before acting out punishments, etc...

(Going to rework this.)

0. Standards

There are numerous, various standards that you are expected to follow, and failing to do so violates this rule. The round cannot succeed if those in charge are not held to responsibility, including both Heads of Staff and Regular crew. Therefore, fulfilling your job is important. Failing to follow these standards when playing these roles will likely result in a job ban.

Discord rules

Can be accessed through this channel for the most up-to-date rules.

1. You must be over the age of 18 to be a part of this Discord & Community, and you need to follow Discord ToS and Community Guidelines.

2. We don't allow inappropriate or unsafe content; for example underage, bestiality, gore. IRL porn is not allowed on this server as well. Any Extreme kinks not posted in porn channels specifically made for them need to be spoilered and tagged appropriately. Alongside that, discussing inappropriate things in general chat is also disallowed; anything to do with the aforementioned topics, heavy historical subjects, deep political debates.

3.Use the appropriate channels and avoid spam; Do not misuse our channels or spam memes, images, ect outside of their channels. Don't send Discord server invite links or codes in the server, including malicious links and advertisements. Noise spam or mic spam is also covered by this rule.

4. We do not tolerate Drama or Harassment; things that would fall under this would be harassment in DMs, bringing drama from other servers, pinging unnecessarily, Raiding our server or other servers.

5. Do not discuss meta knowledge in general chat or in public VC. Streaming the round is fine so long as it does not impact the round, and meta knowledge acquired in it isn’t used.

6. Report any bugs you find, do not discuss any hacking or cheating in public, doing so will result in an immediate ban.

7. Impersonating other players, staff or their characters is not allowed.

8. Language; We expect all of our players to use English to speak on the server, it makes it easier for us to moderate and overall communicate as it is this server’s central language.

9. Do not try to bypass blocked words by the bot, doing so will result in the same punishments as simply saying the word, alongside that we do not allow slurs of any type.

10. Art section; Do not copy or claim other people’s art, characters, ect, and make sure to post Art in the appropriate channels, for example; do not post AI art outside of the specified channel for AI

Ghost role rules

“Please for the love of god stop throwing ash walkers in the lava.” -Kate

Follow your role's job properly, you are still expected to fulfill your duties.

Do not interact with Nanotrasen personnel, unless undercover, as your cover is crucial to the mission, do not break this cover. You are there to act as a listening post, your cover is that of a mining crawler, you have the facilities and abilities to complete your mission and survive in isolation for the missions duration.

If you are reviving dead miners, as an act of good faith, make sure they find themselves outside the crawler before waking up, if they wake up earlier, you are free to provide supplies in good faith to help them survive before sending them on their way.

You may interact with miners if it keeps your cover, such as going out to gather mining materials. If you spot one whilst out and about, you are free to speak to them in passing, just try not to spend too much time interacting with opposing forces or the locals.

You are legitimate in the eyes of Nanotrasen, as the crawler is a cover for the syndicates under the guise of Cybersun's mining corporation 'Exagon-Ichikawa', if anyone asks, that is who you are working for, although you are free to be more vague and just mention you are a Cybersun mining crawler.

Do not abandon the Persistence without a valid reason, such as Nanotrasen threating to put the crawler under complete subjugation and you have activated the self-destruct.

Interacting with Port Tarkon is allowed under the guise of trading since you are a mining crawler.

You are a listening outpost, do not support antagonists in assaulting Nanotrasen or their property.

Common sense is required whilst playing Persistence, maintain your listening post whilst keeping tabs on Nanotrasen communications and monitoring their situation, do not go against this. If you have hostages it is expected that they will need to be occasionally checked on, they are players as well who joined to roleplay, get creative with them.

Putting stuff up for sale on the black market is fine, just do not abuse it, sell your round start stuff, actual equipment you need or supplies you cannot get again.

Do not use Nanotrasen communications, you have a dedicated communication channel for all Persistence members, use it (:w). The only time the Persistence should be communicating publicly with the station is to broker a deal to keep the operation intact and that should be done by the Admiral or liaison.

Do not go pursue the removal of ghost roles, you may defend yourself, but that is it.

“Why are we still here? Just to suffer?”

You are free to trade and research to your hearts content, but you are not allowed to leave your location unless scavenging or evacuating due to absolute necessity.

Port Tarkon is a neutral faction, you are free to interact with Nanotrasen and Syndicates, visitors are allowed but should be heavily scrutinized and are not under protection under Nanotrasen space law but the law of your port.

Do not go on a murder spree, play your characters logically as you are a port of traders and scientists, if someone steals from you, arresting them would be the first choice, if you are attacked, defending yourself is allowed.

“When will we get to go home?” - Charlie station scientist

Your goal is to survive with the others, repair the station and if possible contacting Nanotrasen.

Remember, you are still apart of Nanotrasen, that means their enemies are your enemies, defend yourselves and those who have yet to wake up in their cryo pods.

The cryo pods have nobody else to defend them, you are their last hope, give them a fighting chance by defending them at all costs.

“Keep away from our mosssst ssssacred plasssse!” - Unknown ash walker guardian.

You are a native to lavaland, a tribe with little knowledge of space or the creatures that inhabit it, roleplay it as such.

Tribal rituals are important for ash walkers, along with the legion temple as your people use this land as its home and was made by your culture and the drakes protect it, revere them as such.

Relations with others are neutral, you can be either hostile to outsiders or not, if you chose to go towards violence, follow proper escalation and make sure all other ash walkers know about this. Be careful when finding outsiders, they may be hostile towards you as well, be wary of them.

Do not go onto the station, you are a tribe with little knowledge of technology, the big mechanical thing in the sky is scary. The mining outpost is fine, but the shuttle is too advanced for your mind to comprehend.

“Aw shit.. Here we go again.” - Man lost in space.

Nobody is coming to get you, your ship crashed and now you are all alone.

Don't go crazy out there, any company is welcome company, even a pet rock or ball.

Watch out for fauna, they are most likely out to get you, fix up a place for you to comfortable reside in whilst keeping yourself armed.

If someone shows up and offers you the chance at rescue, you can accept it, but you are not forced to, if you want you can live out the rest of your life in your little shack, you are allowed.

“Well…. This is quaint...” - Visitor D-9341

Pretty simple, you are either staff or a patron, avoid antagonist activites here, anything weird like invading the station or going on a killing spree, this role is meant for people to relax away from the station with zero contact.

Reporting and appealing process

If you witness anybody breaking the rules, you are allowed to open an AHelp in-game and report the issue. When there are no staff online, you can open an AHelp in the Discord through the #open-ahelp channel, please make sure in this case to include the round ID (RID), the name of the offending players character and any other important information that staff can read over.

Have you been wrongfully disciplined by a staff member? Open an AHelp on the Discord through the #open-ahelp channel and explain the situation and provide as much information to staff, it will then be looked over by a higher staff member and a decision will be made on what to do.

Need to appeal a ban you have on your account? Using the Discord channel #submit-an-appeal, open a ticket up and follow the template posted in the starting message for your ticket.
