| Note: This is a guide meant to help new players to SS13 and/or to SPLURT, reading this guide isn't necessary, but should help you stay on track and avoid getting into trouble whilst enjoying your time here and maybe even making some new friends. If you have any questions regarding how to play or about the mechanics, you can ask in #mentorhelp or for more complex questions in #staff-questions on the Discord. | |
Space Station 13 is a multiplayer sandbox with a heavy focus on player interaction. In the year 2565, a mega-corporation 'Nanorasen' has employed you as a crew member on-board their latest research station. Nanotrasen claims to be researching plasma, a mysterious new substance, but rumors are abound that the station is a little more than a twisted social experiment. At the start of each round, players are assigned a job on-board the station depending on their preferences assigned, There are many jobs such as the scientist performing research and development of new technologies, the medical doctor trying to keep the miner alive after the died for the fourth time, or the simple janitor who has the clean up after everyone, especially the clown. There are many different ways to play including various ghost roles. The game also has many stations which players vote on at the end of each round, antagonists that seek to disrupt people and events to spruce up the round even beyond the insanity that other players may produce. |
Using a Windows OS device (Linux is possible but requires outside tutorial to get working), head to the BYOND download index for 516.#### and download one of the clients. (Keep in mind, the newest versions tend to be broken for TG code servers.) Once you have downloaded and followed the sets to set it up, create a BYOND account and log into your client with it (your BYOND username is also known as a CKey), once you have done so you are then ready to join the server. There are many different ways to join, you can either hunt the server down through the list on the BYOND client, or the best method is to use any of the following addresses to join by copy-pasting it into your browser: General: byond://play.splurt.space:42069 All server addresses lead to the same server, the only difference is potential decrease of ping by using servers closer to where you live. If you get high ping, try messing around with what server address you are connecting to. ![]() The quickest way to change relay is via the "Internet Routing Relays" button, which can be found in the top right after connection to one of the server addresses. |
Take a look at the rules before playing, there's a lot to take in, but your main concern should be reading the general rules. Once you have joined the in-game server, you should see a link to join the Discord inside the chat box panel (if not, you can use the following link: https://discord.gg/splurt), you will need to join up in order to link your Discord account to your BYOND. Once inside the Discord server, follow the steps provided in the #submit-verification channel (make sure to click the "Verify Discord" button in order to open up the verification ticket), keep in mind, to play on this server you will need to get age-vetted, this is done inside that same ticket and it will explain the process of what is needed and what to censor, but you will need some form of ID that has your DoB (date of birth) on it. You will also need to say connected to the Discord in order to keep your verification, leaving will lock you out of playing till you rejoin. If you have any questions on getting stuff set up or need help, you can either ask in #mentorhelp or #staff-questions on the Discord and if wanting to ask whilst in-game, you can use F1 (AHelp) to talk with staff or make an MHelp (mentor help) to talk directly with mentors. |
