The Independent Neo-Soviet Alliance

Colloquially, known as INSA. But that's in the modern day, and both the factions and the people of INSA are weathered by a long and spotty history.

Before INSA: The Second Union of Soviet Socialist Republics

Long ago, in the 22nd century, the ability to explore and colonize space became increasingly more available to smaller corporate entities and companies around the Terran World. Every regime and country, no matter how poor or small, could scrape together the budget to launch their own among the stars in search of promising returns such as colonization opportunities, extreme amounts of resource-gathering capability, and the chance to explore the technology and practices of differing, long-extinct species. Though, as such prosperous ventures began to outmatch the governing regulation of the U.N., tensions quickly spiked.

Disposable boosters and other space-vessel debris began to make Terra's orbit impenetrable without receiving severe to moderate hull damage, massive amounts of fuel emission and non-renewable resource usage shook markets across the World, and unregulated colonization projects began to pop up all over the Terran Solar System. As the U.N. began to impose harsh regulations and requirements for the lawful exit if Terra's atmosphere, many smaller Nations such as Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, and many other Slavic and Middle-Eastern countries formed a economic pact to consolidate their resources into a singular, space-faring force. This pact would be referred to as the Intercontinental Space Development Accord (ISDA). As years carried on, their financial bonds drew strong, and besides the United States, their space-naval fleet was one of the largest in existence, spanning hundreds of ships and hundreds more of separate vessels capable of surviving planetary orbit. In the year 2156, this lead to the ISDA becoming what was once known as The Second Union of Soviet Socialist States, with Russia as its primary leading body.

The Second Union of Soviet Socialist States, or simply the 2USSR, embodied all of its original 15 Countries and territories, though extended abroad further than the original USSR had managed too, especially throughout the Middle East and various African Nations. As bonds between these countries grew strong, many consolidated their resources and style of government to a centered regime based out of Russia, leading to global tensions escalating in years to follow. A second Cold War was on the rise between Western Powers and this newer, grander Union of various Nations.

As the 2USSR expanded, so did its needs.
