Origins

In the late 2100s, long after Nanotrasen had begun its steps into space exploration and space-faring vessel manufacturing, an entertainment company based out of the United Kingdom was created under the name `The Britannia Neon Collective LLC` (BNC for short). Their intent was to overhaul a strip of inner-city blocks with gimmicky restaurants, lit-up bars, flashy casinos, gentlemen's clubs, and other tourist-attracting entertainment one would find in areas similar to Las Vegas, Nevada U.S.A, or New York City.

The BNC succeeded in its opening years, drawing in profits from its thickly woven web of tourist-traps; though as decades carried on, their business model, like many others on Terra, began to grow outdated. As space-travel and exploration became a fad on the rise for larger corporations, major economical fields such as logistics, manufacturing, and transport had to stretch their resources thin to accommodate for this sudden upheaval in demand.

This market shift would soon effect BNC as well, smaller corporations already testing the waters of 'Entertainment, but among the stars'. Vessels fashioned to be Science Exposition Centers for the common public were launched into orbit, some spanning much farther than others, and with them came entire Space-Stations oriented around expensively pandering to the patrons that paid premium prices to visit these space-faring entertainment sites. With them came restaurant shuttles, then piloted ships fit to serve as Hotels, and then came more permanent infrastructure, such as smaller stations for staff to form into a home. Since 'land' was not yet mandated for sale and occupation yet, many Corporations sought to establish themselves among the stars before said laws were created. Given how crowded Terra had already grown, this was a valid worry.

In the year 2243, BNC would launch its very own sector, roughly a half AU from Terra itself. This project was named 'The Neon Collective Corporation, of The Stars', or simply NCCTS, though the project was widely regarded as a failure. Its placement was too secluded from any larger, much more attractive sites in space-tourism, and its business model was much more functional on paper when it came down to business expenses such as fuel and in-space power generation. Eventually, years after many vessels in the sector were foreclosed and put up for sale, Nanotrasen sought to purchase the Sector and the remnants of what was once a promising entertainment display inside of it.

Over the following few hundred years, BNC itself as a corporation would become defunct following an embezzlement scandal and the assassination of its founder. While this assassination was attributed to partisan warfare groups, most people at the time concluded it was heralded by a rival organization known as 'EROS'. Since BNC's dissolution, EROS eventually expanded its territorial claims until it was known as the defacto controller of the vast expanse BNC laid claim to, and the sector would eventually become known as 'EROS Sector', in lieu of its older name the 'Spinward Sector', which had quickly become confusing after many spinward sectors came to head. EROS' acquisition of the sector led to several developments, including their primary business sector, adult toys, having its influence on the former entertainment hub.

In 2456, EROS would experience financial hardships as Terran sanctions affected its bottom line. To cope with this, the founder of EROS struck an exit deal with Nanotrasen Incorporated, who assumed direct control over both EROS Sector and all EROS assets, eventually rebranding the EROS business to "LustWish". This unlikely business venture became the first and last expansion into the adult market Nanotrasen would make, but it isn't publically clear why even 100 years later in the modern day. Many people speculate that Nanotrasen has a corrupt business deal with the Terran government (known colloquially as TerraGov) for both immunity and to not expand further into the illicit sex market that now operates throughout the known economic zones of the galaxy. Contemporarily, EROS Sector is a well-recognized redlight district, renowned for both its classy and trashy nature, depending on where one decides to poke their head.
