'''Interacting with another player for the intent to harm or hinder their experience on our server is not allowed''', this does include non-direct ways. If you are engaging in actions to put down another player, you are likely violating this rule.
'''SPLURT is an 18+ server, and is restricted to adults'''. We do not allow any illegal content, or persons under the age of 18.

=== 1 - Impact ===
SPLURT is an agegated community as of January 2026. If you are suspected to have falsified your age verification, or we suspect that you have lied at any point during the age verification process, you be removed from the community, asked to re-verify your age, or barred entry.
'''Activities that impact the server or the player base in a negative way''', you are allowed to roleplay freely within certain boundaries, but if your actions start to impact the server in a way that players experience starts to worsen rather than improving it, then your actions start to break this rule.

=== 2 - Roleplay ===
:0.1. '''Violating either Discords terms of service (ToS) or BYONDs ToS is prohibited'''.
Above all else, S.P.L.U.R.T. Station is an EROTIC ROLEPLAY server and, as such, you are expected to act in a way that not only makes sense for your character, but also in a way that does not disrupt the roleplay of others in the process. The roleplay quality we aim for at S.P.L.U.R.T. is medium roleplay, therefore we expect you to be up to that standard in our server. Your characters and the way you play them should at all times reflect a quality of roleplay good enough for this server. You should avoid disrupting peoples’ experience and immersion through your decisions.
:0.2. Underage characters, or playing non-sentient feral characters is '''not allowed''' under any circumstance.
:0.3. Playing real-life animals (such as Ian) for sexual purposes is also not permitted.
::0.3.1. '''Interacting with creatures that are of fantasy nature or animals that are different enough from real life animals are okay to ERP with'''. (Ian is off-limits, but ash drakes are allowed.)
:0.4. '''Using slurs through IC chat or L/OOC is not allowed''', especially if it is used as an insult towards another user.
::0.4.1. '''Using slurs (such as the f-slur) within a private area between consenting parties is allowed''', so long as this is kept to subtler anti-ghost and is used solely in a non-offensive manner.
:0.5. '''Spreading hate speech toward any group or bigotry is not allowed here''', we host a diverse range of people from all backgrounds, even if you dislike a group of people, keep it to yourself.
:0.6. Do not violate the privacy of any community member (staff or player), including doxxing, whether accidental or purposeful.

Play as a coherent, believable character. You're on a space station as a hire. There's fluffy characters from all corners of the universe and beyond, some of which are twice as tall as you and walk around with nothing hiding their bits, people are eating deep fried clothes and sometimes there's a dozen Captains. Your character should fit within this game world.
=== 1. General ===
==== 2.1 - Escalation ====
All fighting and use of mechanics should be proportional to the conflict itself, and make sense for your character and the situation they encounter. Not unlike how conflict would normally happen in the real world. Conflict and use of mechanics are natural and normal within a roleplay environment in SS13. However, you shouldn’t go overboard when fighting someone else, the admins will gauge for every situation if the use of mechanics was pertinent or not.

In general, try and escalate only when, and as necessary for the situation at hand.
These are general server rules that should be respected at all times while on the game-server.

==== 2.2 - Fuck around and find out ====
:1.1. Do not metagame or metacommunicate
You are not exempt from the consequences of your actions on the server. Just like you would in real life, your decisions and actions ICly on the server can and will be met by ICly consequences from the rest of the players.
::1.1.1. This includes not discussing real-world constructs such as business organizations, politics, current global situations, etc.
::1.1.2. You may reference music or games, and may choose to treat them as old media (as SS13 is set far in the future, typically.)
::1.1.3. You may not use syndicate radio implants or encryption keys as non-syndicate.
:1.2. Speak English
::1.2.1. If a staff member believes that your level of English will not allow you to follow our rules, you may be asked to leave.
::1.2.2. You may speak non-English languages in LOOC if you are in a private setting, such as dorms or infinidorms, but this should be kept between two people and not performed in a group.
:1.3. Be respectful to all community members, whether player or staff.
::1.3.1. Targeted harassment, conspiracies to drive off/get another player in trouble, and giving out player usernames/ckeys without permission are prohibited.
::1.3.2. Reasonable IC drama can be permitted, if kept in moderation. The best rule of thumb is whether or not everybody involved is enjoying the interaction. If you feel unsure, use LOOC.
::1.3.3. Pervasive, round-to-round IC drama may violate this rule.
:::1.3.3.1. Politely ignoring somebody you do not want to interact with is permitted and encouraged.
::1.3.4. Publicly complaining about other players in Discord is prohibited, even without stating the player’s name. Said player will likely see your message and know exactly what you refer to.
:1.4. Do not perform, or attempt to perform the duties of a staff member as non-staff, including vigilante moderation or backseat moderation.
::1.4.1. Accusing other players of rule-breaking, threatening punishment, and/or threatening to call the staff is prohibited. If somebody is breaking the rules, contact the moderation staff. Threatening to contact us tends to start/worsen drama and may get you in trouble.
::1.4.2. Observing the round solely to search for rule-breaking is prohibited. Many behaviors may seem questionable without context and many rules deliberately include grey areas. This is a primary duty of staff members.
:1.5. Do not disconnect if contacted by the moderation team.
::1.5.1. Disconnecting when contacted about a rule violation will be regarded as an attempt to avoid punishment. If you must leave, say something first.
::1.5.2. We will be understanding if your internet cuts out at a bad time, but you may need to contact us through Discord.
:1.6. The intent of the rules is more important than the letter.
::1.6.1. The rules deliberately contain some grey areas, as it is not possible to detail every potential situation which does or does not violate the rules. The intent and thus enforcement of the rules is to provide an enjoyable roleplaying environment and to curate SPLURT to a server which can host such an environment.
::1.6.2. As such, a staff member may permit a rule to not be enforced if everybody involved in the situation is enjoying themselves; conversely, a situation which upsets a large number of players may need admin intervention even if not specifically addressed in the rules.
::1.6.2.1. If allowing a behavior is likely to lead to repeat instances of minor negative behaviors that detracts from SPLURT as a whole, then this must be enforced against.
::1.6.3. Attempting to find a technicality in the wording of the rules will be ignored. If your behavior is causing problems for many other players, it must stop.
:1.7. Staff maintain final say.
::1.7.1. As implied by rule 1.6, the enforcement of the rules is flexible and thus up to interpretation by the moderation team. Our job is to tackle problems not mentioned in the rules and never seen before by anybody on the team: if an admin tells you to do something, do it; if an admin tells you to stop, stop. If you disagree with a ruling, contact the staff member after the situation settles. We frequently need to make quick decisions on limited information and may not be able to fully address your concerns in the heat of the moment.
::1.7.2. If you suspect bias, you may discuss your case with up to three other members of staff, as outlined in the staffing guidelines for SPLURT.
::1.7.3. Pressing the issue further will be considered harassment.

Reactions from the playerbase to your character and your in-game actions can range from the use of escalation, to retaliation over several rounds. If admins deem that a situation your character is going through is due to the previous actions you performed as said character, they will let nature run its course.
=== 2. Malicious behavior ===
Consider this when deciding your actions in-game and the type of character you want to play as!

=== 3 - Consent ===
Malicious behavior may be defined as any action taken to diminish the experience of another player, or actions taken with the intent to harm or ruin the experience of other players. This includes metagrudging, and intentional negative acts that diminish the experience of other players on the server.
Violating another character's preferences, commiting erotic acts against a player or enforcing effects/consequences over said act without their consent, utterly violates this rule. Ensure that you’re aware of every person’s OOC preferences when it comes to sexual content before engaging in such content with them. You’re also entitled to voicing your preferences through LOOC during a scene, and the involved person is supposed to comply with them.

==== 3.1 - Non-con ====
Players are expected to behave maturely while playing on SPLURT, and this includes being open to discussing your reasoning for any actions you take, being courteous within Adminhelps toward members of staff, and generally conducting yourself respectfully within our community. Characters are entitled to be rude and offensive, but this should '''''reasonably'' stop''' when OOC discomfort is expressed.
If your non-con preferences are set to 'Yes', you waive your right to fight back against your would-be non-consensual roleplay partners, as long as they don’t violate the contents of your OOC notes or you speak up in LOOC against what they are doing to you.

All non-con actions are considered non-canon to the round when performed if perpetrated by non-antags. You are not to call for help over comms over being non-conned, unless all parties agree to the consequences of such actions, as doing so consistently results in a witch hunt against your roleplay partner. And the CONSEQUENCES and effect on the round of your ERP should only be decided upon AFTER your scene has been completed, and all parties should consent to them.
:2.1. Do not harass someone over their character, kinks, grammar or preferred roleplaying style
:2.2. Do not meta-grudge a player or their character for their past actions against you, by either killing them, griefing them, being problematic toward them OOCly, or through taking intentional malicious actions against them IC (such as demoting them for no reason).
:2.3. Do not reveal someone's CKey, discord account, or list of characters they play without express permission.
:2.4. Do not lie to staff about what you or another player did. This includes misrepresenting or withholding the truth.
:2.5. Do not prevent a player from engaging with the round without a valid reason, such as barring them from your department as a head of staff for no reason.
:2.6. Do not abuse bugs, quirks or exploits in a disruptive manner to get the upper-hand against another player.
:2.7. Do not bait someone into typing before attacking them. Also called Type Baiting.
:2.8. Do not use size changing quirks or gear to make your character smaller for mechanical advantage against a player
::2.8.1. The current minimum size for Command, Security, and Antagonists is 0.8 or 80%.
::2.8.2. Characters naturally smaller than 80% (0.8) cannot play as a role expected to end up in combat. This includes command, security and antagonist roles.
:2.9. Do not disrespect or harass staff. While we allow players to voice their disagreements with staff members, or voice their opinions on rulings a staff member has made, making fun of, or harassing staff is prohibited. Staff are both players and volunteers; if you have a genuine issue with a staff member, speak to their direct superior.
:2.10. Do not touch, loot or otherwise harm or inconvenience players who are AFK (SSD).
::2.10.1. You may strip a player of important or unique assets who has been SSD for more than 30 minutes (this can be checked through examining them) only if you are then placing the player into cryo storage. Important or unique assets include irreplaceable head items, job-specific items that would be hard to replace, etc. You must not strip any personal, disposable (such as medication, etc.) or antagonist items while doing this, and should disregard any antagonist evidence you may or may not find while doing this - just cryo the player with the antagonist gear in their possession.
::2.10.2. Players who go SSD mid-fight are not instantly protected, but it is reasonably required that any attempts to kill the player are ceased, as they are now able to be non-lethally detained.
::2.10.3. Players who do not have the SSD icon, but are visibly AFK (not moving, not responding) are only protected if it is reasonable for the person performing any actions impacting them to be aware that they are AFK.

=== 4 - Standard ===
===3. Impactful behaviour===
There are numerous, various standards that you are expected to follow, and failing to do so violates this rule. The round cannot succeed if those in charge are not held to responsibility, including both Heads of Staff and Regular crew. Therefore, fulfilling your job is important. Failing to follow these standards when playing these roles will likely result in a job ban.

=== 5 - Safety ===
'''Activities that impact the server or its player base in a negative way''', or '''actions that intentionally go beyond an expected level of impact through your role''' (such as completing your supermatter sliver objective through delaminating the supermatter). You are allowed to roleplay, within reason, but if your actions start to impact the server or its players in a negative way instead of improving it, or start to impact/disrupt a large number of players, then you may be violating this rule.
You are expected to be an adult in this server and be over the age of 18, and you are expected to act as such. Any content that could be interpreted as violating the law and is harmful towards the server is not allowed to be discussed on the server.

Furthermore, this is an eighteen-plus server and, as such, you will be swiftly removed if you are found to be underage.
'''Most cases can be solved through IC actions or through the use of L/OOC with the offending player if they are ruining your experience''', if communicating fails, contact staff.
On this server '''you are allowed to roleplay in a vast range and most things are allowed so long as they do not prove to be a detriment, avoid ruining the experience for everyone else'''.

:3.1. You must not cause damage to the station that is impactful to players without a valid reason.
::3.1.1. You may only perform End Of Round Grief (EORG) on the Central Command Z-level. This is the area you arrive in after the emergency shuttle lands.
::3.1.2.1. The pod waystation (where emergency pods end up) may not be griefed.
:3.2. Do not create lag to the server (increasing TD or ping).
:3.3. Do not bring IC information into OOC chat either to disseminate this information or to escalate an IC issue into OOC. This is termed as "mixing".
:3.4. Powergaming (a player making themselves un-killable, highly resistant to all forms of damage, or making themselves absurdly powerful compared to other players. Always constitutes violating our "play to win" rules, as well.)

Latest revision as of 01:01, 21 June 2026

This section is the most important section, and pertains to your general conduct while in-game. These rules have precedence over all of your actions while playing on SPLURT.

At minimum, you should be familiar with these rules. If you are confused about these rules, please ask a staff member in #staff-questions, or make a discord ticket.

0. Server safety

SPLURT is an 18+ server, and is restricted to adults. We do not allow any illegal content, or persons under the age of 18.

SPLURT is an agegated community as of January 2026. If you are suspected to have falsified your age verification, or we suspect that you have lied at any point during the age verification process, you be removed from the community, asked to re-verify your age, or barred entry.

0.1. Violating either Discords terms of service (ToS) or BYONDs ToS is prohibited.
0.2. Underage characters, or playing non-sentient feral characters is not allowed under any circumstance.
0.3. Playing real-life animals (such as Ian) for sexual purposes is also not permitted.
0.3.1. Interacting with creatures that are of fantasy nature or animals that are different enough from real life animals are okay to ERP with. (Ian is off-limits, but ash drakes are allowed.)
0.4. Using slurs through IC chat or L/OOC is not allowed, especially if it is used as an insult towards another user.
0.4.1. Using slurs (such as the f-slur) within a private area between consenting parties is allowed, so long as this is kept to subtler anti-ghost and is used solely in a non-offensive manner.
0.5. Spreading hate speech toward any group or bigotry is not allowed here, we host a diverse range of people from all backgrounds, even if you dislike a group of people, keep it to yourself.
0.6. Do not violate the privacy of any community member (staff or player), including doxxing, whether accidental or purposeful.

1.7.2. If you suspect bias, you may discuss your case with up to three other members of staff, as outlined in the staffing guidelines for SPLURT.
1.7.3. Pressing the issue further will be considered harassment.

2. Malicious behavior

Malicious behavior may be defined as any action taken to diminish the experience of another player, or actions taken with the intent to harm or ruin the experience of other players. This includes metagrudging, and intentional negative acts that diminish the experience of other players on the server.

Players are expected to behave maturely while playing on SPLURT, and this includes being open to discussing your reasoning for any actions you take, being courteous within Adminhelps toward members of staff, and generally conducting yourself respectfully within our community. Characters are entitled to be rude and offensive, but this should reasonably stop when OOC discomfort is expressed.

2.1. Do not harass someone over their character, kinks, grammar or preferred roleplaying style
2.2. Do not meta-grudge a player or their character for their past actions against you, by either killing them, griefing them, being problematic toward them OOCly, or through taking intentional malicious actions against them IC (such as demoting them for no reason).
2.3. Do not reveal someone's CKey, discord account, or list of characters they play without express permission.
2.4. Do not lie to staff about what you or another player did. This includes misrepresenting or withholding the truth.
2.5. Do not prevent a player from engaging with the round without a valid reason, such as barring them from your department as a head of staff for no reason.
2.6. Do not abuse bugs, quirks or exploits in a disruptive manner to get the upper-hand against another player.
2.7. Do not bait someone into typing before attacking them. Also called Type Baiting.
2.8. Do not use size changing quirks or gear to make your character smaller for mechanical advantage against a player
2.8.1. The current minimum size for Command, Security, and Antagonists is 0.8 or 80%.
2.8.2. Characters naturally smaller than 80% (0.8) cannot play as a role expected to end up in combat. This includes command, security and antagonist roles.
2.10. Do not touch, loot or otherwise harm or inconvenience players who are AFK (SSD).
2.10.2. Players who go SSD mid-fight are not instantly protected, but it is reasonably required that any attempts to kill the player are ceased, as they are now able to be non-lethally detained.
2.10.3. Players who do not have the SSD icon, but are visibly AFK (not moving, not responding) are only protected if it is reasonable for the person performing any actions impacting them to be aware that they are AFK.

3. Impactful behaviour

Activities that impact the server or its player base in a negative way, or actions that intentionally go beyond an expected level of impact through your role (such as completing your supermatter sliver objective through delaminating the supermatter). You are allowed to roleplay, within reason, but if your actions start to impact the server or its players in a negative way instead of improving it, or start to impact/disrupt a large number of players, then you may be violating this rule.

Most cases can be solved through IC actions or through the use of L/OOC with the offending player if they are ruining your experience, if communicating fails, contact staff. On this server you are allowed to roleplay in a vast range and most things are allowed so long as they do not prove to be a detriment, avoid ruining the experience for everyone else.

3.1. You must not cause damage to the station that is impactful to players without a valid reason.
3.1.1. You may only perform End Of Round Grief (EORG) on the Central Command Z-level. This is the area you arrive in after the emergency shuttle lands.
3.1.2.1. The pod waystation (where emergency pods end up) may not be griefed.
3.2. Do not create lag to the server (increasing TD or ping).
3.3. Do not bring IC information into OOC chat either to disseminate this information or to escalate an IC issue into OOC. This is termed as "mixing".
3.4. Powergaming (a player making themselves un-killable, highly resistant to all forms of damage, or making themselves absurdly powerful compared to other players. Always constitutes violating our "play to win" rules, as well.)
